A half dozen years ago I was ordained as a Unity minister. This was only natural for I had grown up in Unity, active in every aspect of its way of life for as long as I can remember. I had long foregone seeking ordination because I was not so interested in ministering to a group in the conventional "church" sense with a building and a board of directors and committees and all of the structure that goes along with the institution of church and it's ongoing, and often challenging, growth. What I liked doing was to teach and to write and to speak and to share truths with others. The only thing which I had never done, in a ministerial sense, was to perform a wedding. That was because the various laws which govern those sorts of things generally agree that one needs a formal recognition, through licensing or ordination, to quality for legally sanctifying the celebration of marriage. Having long been asked by various friends to perform their wedding ceremony, I finally decided to seek ordination to facilitate my officiating at marital celebrations. Furthermore, the title of "Reverend" would make it easier for some people to open themselves to listening to the truths which I have to share.

It should be obvious by now that I am not your normal Unity minister, if there is such a thing. And, since I am a Unity minister, it should be obvious that I am not your normal minister. In fact, I often feel very singularly unique in what I have to share with others, though I still feel a very close affinity to the basic teachings of the Unity movement and the ministry of Jesus as so poorly documented in the Gospels. I have studied extensively with Dr. Rocco Errico over the past half dozen years, having known him for several decades, and have a better grasp than most of an understanding of the message which Jesus came to share versus the distortion of that message which had filtered down to us over the centuries. I have also been influenced in my thinking and teaching by R. Buckminster Fuller, Fred Alan Wolf, Deepak Chopra, Carlos Castaneda, Alan Watts, Marshall McLuhan, Timothy Leary, Wayne Dyer, Joel Goldsmith, and Vrle Minto. And, of course, Eric Butterworth, Catherine Ponder, Sue Sikking, Johnnie Coleman, Sig & Janie Paulson, Richard Billings, Grover Thornsberry, Barbara King, John Strickland, Carol O'Connell, Carolyn Crane, James Dillet Freeman, Jack Graf, and Alan Stanley have all been strong influences from the ranks of the Unity movement. Additionally, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, H. Emilie Cady, and Emma Curtis Hopkins have long been foundational in their influence on my thinking, feeling, and perspectives. These are all just a few of the names that come immediately to mind when I think of the antecedents of my thoughts and outlook today.

I throw this out so you'll know that I am more than just a passing whack jack. In other words, my spoutings have deep roots. Hang with me. It's a great ride.
